(TELLURIDE, Colo.) – Early season snow and cold nighttime temperatures have provided the Telluride Ski Resort Mountain Operations team with great conditions for prepping the resort for Opening Day on November 26th. In the last 48 hours, the resort has seen 26” of snow, bringing our snow total in November alone to more than 4 ½ feet, creating a solid base for grooming and snowmaking operations.

“As far as early season preparations go, we are in great shape for opening day,” said Jeff Proteau, vice president of mountain operations at Telluride Ski Resort. “Thankfully the temperatures have remained steadily cold at night, making for good snowmaking conditions. So that, combined with the natural snow we’ve been getting, has allowed our grooming team to be out night and day to get the mountain set on November 26th.”

The 2015-2016 ski season will kick into high gear on Wednesday, November 25th for the annual Donation Day event. This event will feature $25 lift tickets for all skiers and snowboarders, including Season Pass holders, and serves as a fundraiser for the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club. Additionally, to celebrate the partnership between Telluride Ski Resort, SweetWater Brewing Company and Telluride Brewing Company, $2 of every pint sold at the Saloon at Goronno Ranch will be donated to the Ski and Snowboard Club. All pints will be $4 that day.

“We really can’t thank the ski resort enough for their continued generosity, both for Donation Day, and for the continued support of our training and competition venues at the resort,” said Justin Chandler, executive director of the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club. “This relationship is what truly makes our club and the resort such outstanding organizations as we support each other to be the best in our respective industries.”

On Thursday, November 26th, Village Express (Lift 4) will start turning at 9:00 a.m. for the official start of the ski season. For the second year in a row students from the Ah Haa School for the Arts will be creating the Opening Day banner, and the first four people in line will have the honor of saying they were on the first official chair of the season.
