New York City-based Rock Band the London Souls to Highlight End of Season Festivities
TELLURIDE, Colorado (March 17, 2016) – On Sunday, April 3, 2016, the 2015-2016 ski season will come to a close at Telluride Ski Resort. Highlighting the closing day activities will be the annual Pond Skim and live music in Mountain Village featuring Cranford Hollow and New York City-based rock band, the London Souls.
“Closing Day is the exclamation point on the season. We want to create an event for our community and businesses to come together in celebration of another successful season,” said Matt Windt, vice president of sales & marketing at Telluride Ski Resort. “We’re excited to offer the annual pond skimming at Gorrono Ranch as well as live entertainment in Mountain Village for all resort guests to enjoy.”
The London Souls’ unique reinterpretation of classic hard-hitting rock and roll formulae recalls elements of the past with an ever-present boundless energy, fit to cement their place in the future. The band’s celebrated sound and spirit draws significant influence from the driving force of British rock pioneers Cream and Led Zeppelin to billowing and bouncing funk and soul, to the layered harmonies and memorable hooks of The Beatles and The Hollies, to the contemporary psychedelia of My Morning Jacket among many more. The London Souls will take the stage in Mountain Village at 3:15 p.m. to officially close out the season, but there are plenty of other activities happening to make this a full-day celebration.
The Closing Day celebration will begin at Gorrono Ranch with the annual Pond Skim competition. Registration will take place from 10 am to 11 am and the first 75 participants to sign up will secure their spot in the competition. It’s free to participate and costumes are encouraged. The actual Pond Skim kicks off at 12:00 pm and spectators can take advantage of drink specials from Tito’s Vodka, SweetWater Brewing and Telluride Brewing Company. DJ Soul Atomic will also be on hand to provide tunes during and after the Pond Skim.
Separately, Cranford Hollow will take the stage in Mountain Village at 12:30 to kick-off the live music for the day. Based in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Cranford Hollow performs a blended mix of Southern Rock, Appalachian Fiddle Music and American Rock and Roll. The London Souls will play from 3:15 pm until 4:45 pm when the 2015-2016 ski season officially comes to a close.
