Mountain Biking

For those looking for a thrilling adventure, mountain biking in the San Juan Mountains is a must-try activity. With a range of terrains, the mountains offer various trails for riders of all levels. From challenging trails on old mining roads and basins high above the box canyon to longer, moderate trails that connect former railroad tracks throughout the valley and westward, there’s something for everyone.

During the summer, the Telluride Ski Resort transforms into a biking playground, with numerous trails winding through aspen groves and lush meadows. Visitors can check out the new Telluride Bike Park on the resort, or view the 2023 Telluride Ski Resort bike trail map by clicking here.

Additionally, road riding enthusiasts can take on the scenic San Juan Skyway, which offers technical and challenging routes for skilled road riders. The area features numerous mountain passes and substantial elevation gains, making it a popular destination for road riders.

To reach biking trails in Telluride and Mountain Village, visitors can take the free scenic gondola cabins that are equipped with bike racks during the summer. Bike trails are accessible from San Sophia Station.
